Product Overview
Butyl waterproof membranes are a type of polyethylene-polypropylene composite waterproofing membrane made from linear low-density polyethylene resin, aging inhibitors, stabilizers, tackifiers, and high-strength new spunbond polypropylene nonwoven fabric. Compared to traditional asphalt waterproof membranes, butyl waterproof membranes have undergone significant improvements and upgrades in material composition and manufacturing processes. They use a special modification technique, adding a polymer to the asphalt, which provides excellent elasticity and aging resistance, ensuring long-lasting waterproof performance. Furthermore, the surface of the membrane is covered with a special anti-aging film, effectively resisting external factors such as sunlight and oxygen, which extends its lifespan.

They have high tensile strength and tear resistance, making them adaptable to different construction processes. 1.Outstanding Aging Resistance: The ozone resistance is more than 10 times higher than that of natural rubber and other unsaturated rubbers, and it is not prone to aging even after long exposure to sunlight and air. It can withstand temperatures from -40°C to 120°C.
2.Good Airtightness and Waterproofing: The permeability rate is about 1/20th of that of natural rubber. It also has excellent acid and alkali resistance and insulation properties, making it a specialized product for underground waterproofing projects.

1.Storage Conditions:
• Ventilated, dry, and cool: Store the butyl waterproof membrane in a well-ventilated, dry, and cool place, avoiding direct sunlight and rain.
• Away from fire and heat sources: The storage temperature should be controlled between 5°C and 25°C. Prevent exposure to high temperatures in summer and freezing in winter.
• Separate Storage: Store separately from flammable or explosive materials, and ensure the surrounding environment is clean.
2.Transportation Considerations:
• Avoid tilting or horizontal pressure: During transportation, prevent the membrane from tilting or being horizontally compressed. Keep the packaging intact to avoid deformation of the membrane.
• Avoid chemicals and organic solvents: The membrane is susceptible to corrosion from chemicals or organic solvents, so ensure it is not exposed to such substances during transport and storage.
3.Packaging Requirements:
• Ensure packaging integrity: During transportation and storage, make sure the membrane packaging is intact to prevent any damage that could affect its waterproofing performance.Application Process
1.Surface Preparation:
Before laying the membrane, clean the surface to ensure it is free of loose material, dust, oil, and cement mortar, which could affect adhesion. Round the edges and corners of the surface to facilitate laying the membrane and prevent damage.
2.Material Preparation:
Place the butyl waterproof membrane at the construction site and avoid storing it for too long to prevent cracking or loss of adhesion. Check the membrane for any cracks and ensure it is intact before use.
3.Laying the Membrane:
Lay the membrane from the lower part to the higher part of the surface. Ensure overlaps of at least 8 cm, and the joint width should not be less than 15 cm. The membrane should be cut as needed, ensuring tight adhesion. Fold both sides of the membrane at a 45-degree angle to increase the load-bearing capacity.
4.Seam Treatment:
After laying the membrane, treat the seams by first cleaning and removing dust and cement from the joint areas. Apply butyl rubber waterproofing adhesive to the seams, with a width of at least 20 mm and a thickness of at least 1.2 mm. Allow the adhesive to dry before proceeding to the next step. Ensure the joints are smooth and free of damage or bubbles.
5.Splicing:
For large roof areas, splicing may be necessary. The requirements for handling splices are similar to seam treatment, with a width of at least 30 cm and a thickness of at least 1.2 mm.
