    Product Overview

Tar paper is a general term for asphalt-based waterproofing membranes. It usually refers to waterproof roll materials made with a base layer (such as raw paper, fabric, fiber felt, or metal foil) that is impregnated or coated with asphalt, modified asphalt, or modified tar, and then topped with surface materials.

    Application Scope

    Construction Industry
In the construction sector, tar paper is primarily used as a waterproof layer for roofs and walls. It effectively prevents water penetration, protecting the structure from water damage. It is also used for moisture-proofing in damp environments like basements and tunnels.

    Packaging Industry
Thanks to its excellent waterproof properties, tar paper is also used in the packaging sector—especially for moisture-sensitive items such as food or electronics, providing reliable protection.

    Product Features

    Water Resistance
One of the main features of tar paper is its water resistance. Specially treated tar paper maintains its integrity and function in wet environments, effectively blocking moisture.

    Abrasion Resistance
In addition to being waterproof, tar paper also offers some abrasion resistance, making it ideal for applications involving friction or wear, such as floor layering and item packaging.

    Environmental Friendliness
With growing environmental awareness, many modern tar papers are made from eco-friendly materials. These types offer good waterproof performance while minimizing environmental impact.

    Storage and Transportation Guidelines

    1. Storage Conditions

Moisture Protection: Store in a clean, dry location. Keep relative humidity between 60%–70%, and temperature ideally between 18–20°C.

Heat Protection: Avoid direct sunlight to prevent deformation or damage from high temperatures.

No Folding: Avoid folding or cross-stacking to prevent material damage.

    2. Transportation Guidelines

No Throwing: Never toss tar paper from high places during transport to avoid damage.

Flat Transport: Store and transport the rolls flat; avoid standing them up to prevent edge or core damage.

Use Proper Tools: Avoid using iron hooks when handling; move rolls by rolling them in the direction of the arrows.

    3. Specific Handling Methods

Moisture Control: Store with pallets underneath; avoid placing rolls directly against walls. Ensure the warehouse is dry and well-ventilated.

Sunlight Protection: Avoid sun exposure—especially in rainy seasons, take measures to prevent rain and sun damage.

Temperature Control: Maintain storage temperature between 18–25°C and never exceed 38°C.

    Application Process

    Before starting construction:

Ensure the surface (walls, floors, etc.) is clean, level, and free of oil stains or loose debris.

Repair any damage or hollow spots.

Take accurate measurements and mark the dimensions of the surface for precise placement.

Prepare all necessary materials and tools, including tar paper, waterproof adhesive, scrapers, brushes, and the waterproofing membrane.

    Construction Steps

    First Layer:
Lay the first layer of the tar paper on the base surface, ensuring even tension to avoid wrinkles. Overlaps should be at least 10 cm wide. Use a scraper to remove any excess material.

    Second Layer:
Apply the second layer the same way, maintaining tension and ensuring proper overlap with the first layer.

    Apply Waterproof Adhesive:
Spread adhesive evenly between the two layers and allow it to dry.

    Additional Layers:
Repeat the above process for the third and any additional layers as needed. Make sure each layer is fully dry before applying the next.

    Precautions During Construction

Ensure good ventilation to avoid fire or explosion hazards due to adhesive fumes.

Control the thickness of adhesive application; excess thickness may affect waterproof performance.

Maintain even tension in the tar paper to prevent wrinkles.

Carefully observe overlap conditions during construction and make sure the overlap width meets the required standards.
